MIM and BJP Lock Horns in Upcoming Hyderabad MLC Elections

Hyderabad: The stage is set for a high-stakes contest in the Hyderabad local body MLC elections, with the Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (MIM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formally announcing their candidates. The polls, expected to be closely contested, will play a pivotal role in shaping the local political landscape.
On Friday, MIM declared Mirza Riaz ul Hasan Effendi as its nominee, while the BJP fielded Dr. N. Gautam Rao, a senior party leader, for the crucial seat. The electoral college for this poll comprises 112 voters, including 81 elected corporators and 29 ex-officio members from various civic bodies and public offices across Hyderabad.
Political observers suggest the contest may have significant implications for urban governance and party influence within municipal institutions. Both parties are expected to intensify their campaigning efforts in the coming days, with a focus on mobilising their core support base and securing endorsements from key stakeholders.
With stakes high and margins expected to be tight, the outcome could signal the political direction of Hyderabad’s local governance in the years ahead.
