Hyderabad Police Deny Permission for Telangana March Against Waqf Act

Hyderabad city police have denied permission for the proposed Telangana March against the Waqf Amendment Act. The march was planned by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) demanding withdrawal of recent amendments. Officials cited concerns over law and order as the primary reason for denying permission. The march was scheduled to take place in key areas of Hyderabad on April 27. Police said no public gatherings will be allowed without prior clearance considering the sensitive nature of the issue. JAC leaders expressed disappointment and said they would approach the High Court if necessary. Heavy security arrangements have been made across Hyderabad as a precautionary measure. Authorities appealed to all groups to maintain peace and avoid unauthorised protests. The Waqf Amendment Act has sparked controversy among several community groups. Further discussions between protestors and officials are expected next week.
