Former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash Murdered at Home; Wife Detained for Questioning
Bengaluru | April 21, 2025: Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash, aged 68, was found murdered at his residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, on Sunday. His wife, Pallavi, has been detained for questioning as the prime suspect in the case.
According to police reports, the incident occurred following a heated argument between the couple over property disputes. During the altercation, Pallavi allegedly threw chilli powder into Om Prakash’s eyes, tied him up, and stabbed him multiple times with a knife. She then reportedly made a video call to a friend, stating, “I have killed the monster
Om Prakash was a 1981-batch IPS officer who served as Karnataka’s DGP from 2015 until his retirement in 2017. He had also held positions in the Fire and Emergency Services and Home Guards during his tenure.
The couple’s daughter, Kriti, was present in the house at the time of the incident and has also been detained for questioning. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Om Prakash’s son, who alleged that his father had been receiving death threats and that his mother and sister had frequent disputes with him .
