Delhi Police Arrest Medha Patkar Over 24-Year-Old Defamation Case

The warrant relates to a 24-year-old defamation case filed against her. Officials stated that Patkar failed to furnish probation bonds as required by the court. She was taken into custody after court proceedings earlier in the day. The defamation case was reportedly filed by a former government official in the year 2000. Police confirmed that Patkar was later produced before a magistrate for further legal proceedings. Her supporters condemned the arrest, calling it politically motivated. Authorities maintained that the action was in compliance with judicial orders. Legal experts noted that the case had seen multiple delays over the years.
