Hyderabad Lift Crash Injures Three Women in Murad Nagar Apartment, Kids Safe

Hyderabad: A terrifying incident occurred at an apartment in Murad Nagar, Asif Nagar, on Sunday night, where a lift crash injured three women and raised concerns about elevator safety in Hyderabad’s residential complexes.
According to officials, the Hyderabad lift crash in Murad Nagar happened when the elevator’s traction cable snapped while ascending to the fourth floor, causing the cabin to suddenly plunge down several levels with five occupants inside — three women and two children.
Residents Rush to Help
Hearing the loud crash, residents in the building rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the injured women, who were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, the two children escaped without injuries. Doctors have confirmed that the injured women are in stable condition and receiving necessary care.
Lift Safety Investigation Initiated
The Asif Nagar police have launched a probe into the mechanical failure, and authorities are currently inspecting the condition of the lift, its traction system, and maintenance records. Preliminary inquiries suggest a possible lapse in regular servicing.
“We are reviewing all lift safety logs and checking if the building association followed mandated inspection procedures,” a police official said.
A City-Wide Wake-Up Call
The Murad Nagar lift accident has sent shockwaves across Hyderabad, with many citizens expressing concern over the safety of elevators in apartments, especially older buildings where maintenance is often neglected.
Building residents are now calling for:
- Mandatory monthly lift inspections
- Public disclosure of maintenance records
- Strict accountability for negligence
