Today in Indian Politics: Rahul Gandhi Rallies Youth in Bihar, Amit Shah Reviews J&K Security, Karnataka BJP Protests Inflation

New Delhi: As national elections draw near, political activity across India surged on Monday with high-profile events in Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Karnataka. This India Politics Update for April 7 highlights three key developments shaping the narrative in the East, North, and South of the country.
Rahul Gandhi Joins Youth-Led March in Bihar
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Kanhaiya Kumar spearheaded the ‘Palayan Roko, Naukri Do’ (Stop Migration, Give Jobs) rally in Begusarai, Bihar. The march highlights youth unemployment and migration, two burning issues ahead of the upcoming state elections.
In a video message, Gandhi urged Bihar’s youth to wear white T-shirts and join the cause, emphasizing job creation and accountability.
This rally is part of the Congress party’s renewed effort to engage young voters and regain lost ground in the Hindi heartland, where economic development remains a decisive factor.
Amit Shah in J&K for Security and Development Review
Union Home Minister Amit Shah began his three-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir, holding high-level security and development review meetings in Srinagar. His itinerary includes a likely visit to Kathua, signaling the Centre’s ongoing focus on border management and electoral readiness.
Shah’s Sunday meeting with BJP leadership—including Jitendra Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma, and Ashok Koul—was described as strategic ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The visit underscores the BJP’s continued emphasis on national security, regional development, and political consolidation in the Union Territory.
Karnataka BJP Launches Janaakrosha Yatra Against Inflation
In Karnataka, the BJP launched its 16-day protest yatra, titled ‘Janaakrosha Yatra’ (People’s Outrage March), taking aim at rising inflation and the Congress government’s policy decisions, including a 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts.
Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka stated that the yatra reflects growing public frustration over essential commodity prices and governance failures.
The protest march is being held in four phases, covering districts from Mysuru to Bengaluru, and is expected to serve as a mobilization drive for the BJP ahead of general elections.
