Expired Ingredients, Open Bins: Food Safety Task Force Inspects Gachibowli and Raidurg Kitchens

Hyderabad: The Food Safety Task Force (FSTF) on Friday conducted surprise inspections at two major food service facilities in Hyderabad—Compass India Food Services Pvt Ltd in Gachibowli and Eatgood Technologies Pvt Ltd (operating under the brand Hunger Box) in Raidurg—to assess hygiene and compliance with food safety norms.

Compass India Food Services: Minor Lapse Noted

At Compass India’s Synergy Park facility in Gachibowli, officials found that key safety protocols were in place. The establishment had a valid FSSAI license displayed, with documentation for pest control, water and food analysis, FoSTaC training, and medical fitness of food handlers available for review.

Inspectors confirmed that equipment calibration was done regularly and Total Polar Materials (TPM) in reused oil were being properly monitored. However, one concern was raised—dustbins were left open, which could potentially lead to contamination. Officials advised immediate corrective action.

Hunger Box Facility Flagged for Expired Masala, Storage Issues

At Hunger Box in Raidurg, the inspection team verified food safety certifications and documentation. While basic compliance was observed, officials flagged expired stock—250 grams of Biryani Masala and 2 kilograms of Jaggery—which were discarded on the spot.

Additionally, inspectors noted that some refrigerated food items lacked proper labelling, and storage units were positioned directly against the wall, violating hygiene guidelines that require spacing to prevent pest infestation.

Ongoing Oversight Planned

The task force reiterated that routine inspections will continue across Hyderabad to ensure adherence to food safety standards. All establishments have been instructed to rectify shortcomings immediately to avoid penalties or stricter enforcement actions
