Nayanthara’s Remuneration Drops in 2025: Check Out Updated Figures
In a surprising turn of events, South Indian cinema’s “Lady Superstar,” Nayanthara, has agreed to a substantial pay cut for her upcoming Telugu film alongside megastar Chiranjeevi. Initially demanding a staggering ₹18 crore, the actress has settled for ₹6 crore after negotiations with the production team.
Nayanthara, known for her commanding presence in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films, has been one of the highest-paid actresses in the South Indian film industry. Her previous collaborations with Chiranjeevi, including “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” and “Godfather,” were well-received, with the latter reportedly earning her ₹10 crore.
The upcoming film, directed by Anil Ravipudi, is slated for a Sankranthi 2026 release. The project has already generated buzz, especially with the hashtag #ChiruAnil is trending among fans. Catherine Tresa is also part of the cast, playing the second lead.
Industry insiders suggest that Nayanthara’s initial demand was influenced by her recent pan-Indian success, notably her Bollywood debut in “Jawan” alongside Shah Rukh Khan, which grossed over ₹1,000 crore worldwide. However, the production team’s budget constraints and market dynamics led to a renegotiation, culminating in the agreed ₹6 crore remuneration.
Fans have expressed mixed reactions to the news. While some view the pay cut as a strategic move aligning with the film’s budget, others believe it reflects the volatile nature of the film industry’s economics. Nevertheless, anticipation remains high for Nayanthara’s performance in the film, given her track record of delivering compelling portrayals.
The film’s shooting is scheduled to commence on May 22 in Hyderabad, with promotional activities already underway. A short promotional video featuring Nayanthara was recently shot in Chennai and is expected to be released soon.
This development underscores the complexities of remuneration negotiations in the film industry, where factors like market trends, previous successes, and budgetary considerations play pivotal roles. As Nayanthara continues to navigate her illustrious career, her decisions remain a focal point of industry discussions.
