People wake up to blast-like sounds as sirens ring out in Jammu

 by loud, blast-like sounds followed by the blaring of emergency sirens.

The incident reportedly occurred around 3:30 a.m., with residents in areas such as Janipur, Gandhi Nagar, and Channi Himmat taking to social media to report the unsettling noises. Several described the sounds as “thunderous” and “explosive in nature,” raising immediate concerns of a security incident.

Authorities have since confirmed that no casualties or damage have been reported so far. However, police and military personnel have cordoned off multiple zones for investigation.

“There’s an ongoing probe into the origin of JAMMU — In the early hours of Saturday, panic gripped parts of Jammu as residents were awakenedthe sounds,” said a senior police officer. “We are checking for any signs of explosive activity, though nothing has been confirmed yet.”

The sirens, which sounded for several minutes after the blasts, were reportedly part of a standard security drill, but the timing has led to confusion and fear among residents.

Social media platforms were flooded with videos and voice recordings capturing the sounds. Many speculated whether the incident was linked to cross-border tensions or internal security drills.

Local authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.

This incident comes amid heightened security alerts in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in light of upcoming political events and religious festivals in the region.

As of now, the administration is maintaining a state of alertness while investigations continue.

Officials have promised to issue a detailed statement once more information becomes available.

In the meantime, Jammu remains under increased surveillance, with drones and patrol teams deployed across sensitive locations.
