Tension in Palghar After Eggs Thrown at Ram Navami Rally; Police Urge Calm

Palghar, Maharashtra: A Ram Navami rally in Palghar took an unexpected turn on Sunday when eggs were allegedly thrown at participants by unidentified individuals. The incident occurred during a motorbike procession organized by the Sakal Hindu Samaj, leading to brief unrest before police intervened and restored order.
The rally began from Sarveshwar Temple in Chikhaldongri and was headed toward Pimpleshwar Temple in Virar (West). It featured around 100–150 motorbikes, a ceremonial chariot, and two tempos, drawing large community participation.
According to officials, the Palghar Ram Navami rally incident escalated when a group of riders took a side lane near the rally’s destination. Eggs were allegedly thrown at them from a nearby building, causing tension and outrage among the devotees.
Responding swiftly, officers from Bolinj police station arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. One person has been detained for questioning, and a case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for public mischief and promoting enmity on religious grounds.
To prevent further flare-ups, patrolling has been intensified, and authorities have urged residents to refrain from spreading misinformation on social media.
“We request the public to cooperate with law enforcement and not fall prey to rumours. Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony,” a senior police officer stated.
The Palghar Ram Navami rally incident has prompted local authorities to remain vigilant and promote peaceful coexistence in the area.
