Nadda on Waqf Act: “No Takeover, Just Transparency” — BJP Reaffirms Reform Agenda on Foundation Day

New Delhi: On the occasion of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) 45th Foundation Day, party president and Union Minister JP Nadda made a strong case for transparency in Waqf Board operations, clarifying that the Waqf Act 2025 reform is aimed at ensuring accountability — not government control.
Addressing party workers and the press at the BJP headquarters, Nadda stated, “We’re not here to take over. We’re only asking that Waqf boards follow the law. Even many Islamic countries have dissolved or brought these boards under strict regulation.”
He reiterated that Waqf properties must serve the Muslim community’s welfare, especially in education, healthcare, and employment — a stance that counters opposition narratives of central interference.

Nadda sharply criticized Congress’s history, citing Rajiv Gandhi’s reversal of the Shah Bano verdict and contrasting it with the Modi government’s ban on triple talaq, which he claimed “freed lakhs of Muslim sisters from injustice.”
He also defended the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, connecting it to the Nehru-Liaquat Pact, and questioned the sharp decline of Hindus in Pakistan from 22% in 1947 to 1.6% today.

Highlighting key steps toward reclaiming Indian heritage, Nadda pointed to:

  • Renaming Rajpath to Kartavya Path
  • Installing Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s statue at India Gate
  • Abrogating Article 370

“These are more than symbolic — they reflect national pride and justice,” he said.

With over 13.5 crore BJP members, Nadda called the party the world’s largest and most ideologically consistent. He announced ‘Samvidhan Gaurav Diwas’ (April 14–25), aimed at educating the public about constitutional values and exposing what he called Congress’s legacy of undermining the Constitution.
The BJP Foundation Day was celebrated nationwide, with events in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, reinforcing the party’s focus on development, nationalism, and cultural pride.
