Operation Sindoor not yet over: India responds to Pak-led protest in Portugal

In a firm diplomatic response, the Indian Embassy in Portugal addressed a protest organized by Pakistani nationals outside its Chancery building in Lisbon. Labeling the demonstration as a “desperate provocation,” the embassy conveyed a resolute message: “Operation Sindoor is not yet over.”

The protest occurred in the aftermath of India’s Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes carried out on May 7, 2025, targeting nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This military action was a direct response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. In its statement, the Indian Embassy thanked the Government of Portugal and its police authorities for ensuring the safety and security of the embassy. The embassy emphasized that India would not be intimidated by such provocations and reiterated its unwavering commitment to national security.

Ambassador Puneet Roy Kundal also took to social media to reinforce the embassy’s stance, stating that the protest was met with a “silent yet strong and resolute message” from the Indian side. He added that all embassy officers maintained a steadfast approach during the incident.

The phrase “Operation Sindoor is not yet over” has since become a symbol of India’s firm stance against terrorism and its commitment to safeguarding national interests. While the immediate military operations have concluded, the message underscores India’s readiness to take decisive action if necessary.

This development highlights the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan and the broader geopolitical implications of the conflict. As both nations navigate this complex situation, the international community continues to monitor developments closely.
