306 Booked for Drunk Driving in Cyberabad Weekend Crackdown, No Women Among Offenders

In a weekend enforcement drive aimed at improving road safety, Cyberabad Traffic Police booked 306 individuals for drunk driving across various checkpoints in the city. The intensive operation was carried out on Saturday night in high-traffic zones like Gachibowli, Madhapur, Miyapur, and Kukatpally.
Surprisingly, none of the offenders were female — a detail that officials said reflects behavioural trends but not the focus of enforcement. Most of those caught were men aged between 21 and 35, many of whom were either returning from parties or restaurants.
Authorities seized a large number of vehicles, and over 40 licenses were immediately recommended for suspension. All offenders will be required to attend mandatory counselling sessions and court hearings, with possible jail time and heavy fines depending on repeat offences and BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) levels.
Cyberabad Commissionerate has stated that these drives will continue through the summer season, especially during weekends and holidays. Officials have also urged citizens to use designated drivers or app-based cabs if they plan to consume alcohol.
The crackdown is part of a broader strategy to reduce fatal accidents in the city, particularly during late-night hours. Last year, drunk driving was attributed as a leading cause in over 15% of serious road accidents in the Cyberabad region.
