Rupee Falls 4 Paise to 85.19 Against US Dollar in Early Trade

Mumbai | April 23, 2025
The Indian rupee opened weaker by 4 paise and stood at ₹85.19 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, weighed down by foreign fund outflows and firm global crude oil prices.
Currency dealers said the rupee traded in a narrow range as traders awaited cues from the upcoming US Federal Reserve commentary and crude demand forecasts.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 85.15 and touched a low of 85.22 before recovering slightly. On Monday, it had settled at 85.15.
Analysts expect the local unit to stay volatile this week amid rising geopolitical tensions and persistent dollar strength.
