Tragedy in Visakhapatnam: 4 Children Suffocate to Death After Getting Locked Inside Car

In a devastating incident that has sent shockwaves across Andhra Pradesh, four children — all aged between 5 and 9 — were found dead inside a locked car in Visakhapatnam’s Parawada area on Sunday afternoon. The children are believed to have accidentally locked themselves inside the parked vehicle while playing, leading to their suffocation under the scorching summer heat.
According to preliminary reports, the children were residents of the same neighborhood and had gone missing around noon. Hours later, local residents discovered the unconscious children in the backseat of a car parked outside a house. By the time they were rushed to the hospital, all four were declared dead.
The vehicle reportedly belonged to a relative of one of the victims. It had been left unused for days, and the children are suspected to have climbed in through an unlocked door, which later jammed shut. With temperatures soaring above 40°C, the confined space turned into a death trap within minutes.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are conducting further investigation. Forensic teams have been deployed to examine the vehicle. Local officials, including representatives from the Child Welfare Department, have visited the bereaved families and assured support.
The incident has reignited concerns over child safety and parental vigilance. Authorities have urged residents to keep parked vehicles locked and ensure children are supervised, especially during summer vacations.
