Bigg Boss 2025 Hindi Season Cancelled Amid Channel-Producer Rift

In a major shock to reality TV fans across the country, the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Hindi has been officially cancelled for 2025. Sources close to the production confirm that long-standing differences between the show’s production house and its broadcasting partner have led to the decision.
The fallout reportedly stems from creative disagreements between Banijay Asia (formerly Endemol Shine India), which owns the rights to the Bigg Boss format, and the previous host channel. Discussions around format changes, commercial terms, and control over content reportedly reached an impasse in early May, leading to the abrupt termination of their partnership.
Notably, the cancellation affects only the Hindi edition of the show. Regional versions—including Bigg Boss Telugu, Tamil, and Marathi—remain unaffected and are expected to air on schedule. In fact, Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9 is slated to begin in August 2025 with pre-production already underway.
This is not the first time Bigg Boss has faced uncertainty. The show originally launched on Sony TV in 2006 before moving to Colors TV in 2008, where it became one of India’s most-watched reality shows. Insiders now suggest that Banijay may be exploring a return to Sony or another OTT partner to revive the format next year.
Reactions from fans have been mixed. While some expressed disappointment over losing their favorite weekend entertainment, others have welcomed a break from the franchise, citing format fatigue and declining originality in recent seasons. The show’s absence from the 2025 calendar marks a rare pause in what had otherwise been a continuous 17-year run.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the producers or any broadcasting platform. The future of Bigg Boss Hindi hinges on new partnerships and strategic repositioning, likely to be announced later this year.
