Filipino Conjoined Twins Klea and Maurice Arrive in Saudi Arabia for Life-ChangingSurgery

In a remarkable act of humanitarian aid, Filipino conjoined twins Klea Ann and Maurice Ann
Misa have arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to undergo a complex surgical procedure aimed
at separating them. The twins, accompanied by their parents, were received at King Khalid
International Airport and transferred to King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital for
medical evaluation.
This initiative is part of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, established in 1990, which has
successfully performed over 140 separation surgeries for children from various countries. The
program operates under the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown
Prince Mohammed bin Salman, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to global humanitarian
efforts.
Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, a renowned pediatric surgeon and head of the medical team, will
lead the evaluation and potential surgery. The twins’ mother, Maricel Misa, expressed
profound gratitude, stating that since their birth seven years ago, she had been praying for an
opportunity to provide her daughters with a chance at a normal life.
Klea and Maurice are the third set of Filipino conjoined twins to be treated under this
program. Previous successful separations include twins in 2004 and 2024, highlighting the
program’s expertise and dedication.
As the medical team conducts thorough assessments, the world watches with hope and
anticipation for a successful outcome that could transform the lives of Klea and Maurice.
