BRS to hold statewide agitations against Telangana Congress govt

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), has announced a series of statewide agitations targeting the Congress government in Telangana. The protests are aimed at highlighting what the BRS calls “complete failure” of the Congress in fulfilling its pre-election promises.

Senior BRS leaders met in Hyderabad to finalize the agitation strategy, which includes rallies, dharnas, and public meetings across districts. The party has accused the Revanth Reddy-led government of betraying farmers, youth, and women with unfulfilled guarantees.

Addressing the media, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) said the Congress had misled the people with lofty promises but has failed to deliver even after several months in power. He added that the BRS will expose the government’s ā€œdouble standardsā€ at every level.

Among the key issues being raised are non-implementation of the Rs 2,500 unemployment allowance, failure to waive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh, and delays in monthly financial support to women under the promised Mahalakshmi scheme.

The BRS also slammed the government over rising power outages, poor support prices for agricultural produce, and what it termed as “policy paralysis” in governance.

The agitations are scheduled to begin district-wise from next week and will culminate in a massive rally in Hyderabad.

Party sources say the BRS is planning to mobilize lakhs of supporters to create momentum ahead of the upcoming local body elections.

Political observers see this as BRS’s strategy to regain public support and reclaim its lost ground after losing power in the 2023 Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has dismissed the BRS allegations, stating that the government is committed to implementing its guarantees in a phased manner.

The stage is set for a political showdown in Telangana as both parties prepare for a high-stakes battle on the ground.

The coming weeks are expected to witness intensified political activity, with both parties engaging in mass outreach to sway public opinion in their favor.
