Hyderabad Airport Issues Passenger Advisory Amid Indo-Pak Tensions
In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has issued a passenger advisory, urging travelers to arrive early due to enhanced security protocols.
The advisory, disseminated via RGIA’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, alerts passengers to anticipate longer wait times at security checkpoints. This measure is part of a nationwide directive from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which includes mandatory secondary ladder point checks for all departing flights and a ban on visitor entry into terminal buildings.
These heightened security measures coincide with “Operation Sindoor,” a military initiative launched by India following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 26 fatalities. As a precaution, approximately 27 airports across the country have been temporarily closed, though RGIA remains operational.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, allowing extra time for security procedures. Airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, and Akasa Air have also recommended that travelers arrive at least three hours prior to departure to ensure timely check-in and boarding.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation continues to monitor the situation closely, with further updates to be provided as necessary. Travelers are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and cooperate with airport authorities to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
