Dalit Youth Killed Over Personal Enmity in UP’s Amethi

A Dalit youth was allegedly murdered in cold blood in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district, triggering outrage among the local community. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Ravi Kumar, was reportedly attacked late Monday night by individuals known to him.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the killing stemmed from a personal rivalry, but the victim’s family has alleged caste-based targeting. The assailants are said to have ambushed him near a field and fled the scene after brutally assaulting him with blunt objects.
Local Dalit organisations staged protests demanding immediate arrests and the invocation of the SC/ST Atrocities Act. Police have registered a case and assured swift action. Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any escalation.
This incident adds to the growing number of crimes against Dalits being reported from across Uttar Pradesh. Senior police officials have reached the spot and are overseeing the investigation. Political leaders have also demanded transparency and quick justice.
