Hyderabad to Collaborate with Japanese Firms for ‘Eco Town’ Project, CM Revanth Signs Pact in Kitakyushu

Hyderabad | April 21, 2025: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has signed a series of agreements with top Japanese firms in Kitakyushu city to establish an ‘Eco Town’ in Hyderabad, focused on recycling, waste management, environmental restoration, and circular economy models.

Kitakyushu, known globally for transforming itself from a polluted industrial hub to a model of sustainable urban development, will share its expertise and innovation with Hyderabad. The agreement was signed with companies including EX Research Institute, Nippon Steel Engineering, P9 LLC, New Chemical Trading, and Amita Holdings.

CM Revanth said the Eco Town will align with Hyderabad’s commitment to both rapid development and environmental protection, adding, “Sustainability is no longer a luxury—it is essential to growth.”

The Mayor of Kitakyushu, Kazuhisa Takeuchi, assured full support and knowledge-sharing to help Telangana develop advanced environmental infrastructure. Discussions also included a potential sister-city agreement and a direct air route between Hyderabad and Kitakyushu.

CM Revanth proposed establishing a Japanese-speaking school in Hyderabad to bridge skill gaps and enhance bilateral cooperation. The Telangana delegation also studied the Murasaki River restoration project to gather insights for Hyderabad’s Musi Riverfront Development, which is facing criticism due to displacement of riverside residents.
