Rajanna-Sircilla | Health & Safety Desk: A devastating case of suspected food poisoning has left the residents of Rudrangi village in Sircilla district in mourning after a mother and her six-year-old son died within 48 hours of falling severely ill. The Sircilla food poisoning incident has triggered an investigation into food safety practices in the area.
The victims, Kasula Pushpalatha (35) and her son Nihal, reportedly consumed chapatis for dinner on Friday night. By midnight, both began experiencing intense vomiting and diarrhoea. The family rushed them to a private hospital in Korutla, but as their condition worsened, they were referred to Karimnagar and later MGM Hospital in Warangal.
Despite multiple rounds of emergency care:
- Pushpalatha died late Sunday night during treatment.
- Nihal succumbed early Monday morning, leaving the family and village in shock.
Authorities Launch Probe
While food poisoning is the suspected cause, police and health officials are exploring alternative causes, and medical samples have been collected for forensic analysis. A case has been registered, and investigators are probing whether the food was contaminated, expired, or improperly stored or cooked.
Local police confirmed that the Rudrangi incident is being treated with priority, and initial reports have been sent to the District Health Department.
Community Reaction and Concerns
