Hyderabad Horror: Pregnant Woman Brutally Assaulted by Husband Sparks Nationwide Outrage

Hyderabad | Crime Report Desk: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a pregnant woman was brutally assaulted by her husband in the Gachibowli area of Hyderabad, leaving the public in disbelief. The incident occurred on April 1 and only came to light after disturbing CCTV footage of the attack surfaced on social media over the weekend.
A Marriage Marred by Violence
The couple, Mohd Basrath (32) and Shabana Parveen (22), were married in October 2024 after a love affair. Recently living in Aditya Nagar, the couple had moved out of Basrath’s family home at Parveen’s request—reportedly the root of ongoing arguments.
On April 1, following her discharge from the hospital for pregnancy-related complications, Parveen became the victim of a violent outburst. Eyewitnesses and video footage reveal that Basrath pushed her to the ground, verbally abused her, and struck her repeatedly with a cement brick and wooden stick—believing she had died before fleeing the scene.
Police Response and Current Status
Residents alerted the Gachibowli Police, who immediately responded and rushed Parveen to the hospital. She remains in critical condition, four months pregnant, under intensive care.
Basrath has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, including charges related to attempted murder and domestic abuse.
Public Outrage and Legal Demand
The Hyderabad Pregnant Woman Assault case has gone viral across platforms, leading to widespread condemnation. Citizens, activists, and women’s rights groups have expressed fury and grief over the brutality and vulnerability of the victim.
“This is not just a crime against one woman — it’s a failure of our system to protect those most vulnerable,” said a representative from a local women’s rights NGO.
Many are demanding:
- Fast-track trial
- Stricter punishment under domestic violence laws
- Mandatory police monitoring of high-risk households
- Support systems for pregnant abuse survivors
As Hyderabad reels from the horror, the case underscores the urgent need for legal reform, gender-sensitive policing, and community-level vigilance to prevent such crimes.
