Pakistan claims India targeted three airbases with missiles, drones

Islamabad, May 10, 2025 — In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Pakistan has officially claimed that three of its major airbases were targeted by India using a combination of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). This marks one of the most serious military confrontations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors in recent years.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the affected airbases are located in Bahawalpur, Sargodha, and Mianwali. The attack reportedly occurred during the early hours of Saturday.

Pakistani authorities allege that multiple drones entered their airspace, followed by precision-guided missile strikes aimed at disabling radar and runway infrastructure. Videos released by local residents show explosions and black smoke rising from the vicinity of military installations.

In a press briefing, a Pakistani military spokesperson stated, “India’s act of aggression will not go unanswered. We are fully prepared to retaliate at a time and place of our choosing.”

India has not yet officially commented on the accusations, but military sources in New Delhi have indicated ongoing strategic operations without confirming the exact nature or targets.

The attacks come amid a series of rising tensions between the two nations, following recent cross-border shelling incidents and intelligence reports of militant activity across the Line of Control (LoC).

Social media platforms in both countries were flooded with images and videos purportedly showing missile trails, fireballs in the night sky, and emergency sirens blaring from base perimeters.

Defense analysts suggest that this attack, if confirmed, represents a shift in India’s military posture—from defensive retaliation to strategic preemptive operations.

Meanwhile, air traffic in nearby civilian airports was halted for several hours, and residents were advised to remain indoors.

International response to the escalation has been cautious. The United Nations and several global powers have called for restraint and urged both nations to avoid further confrontation.

More updates are expected as both countries continue to issue statements and verify the extent of the damage.
